Great product March 7, 2010 Amanda R. Johnston (Western Pennsylvania) This sewing machine is my first machine. I think it does exactly what it says it will do. I use it for sewing on cub scout patches and awards, and for quilting.
LOVE this Machine! March 6, 2010 C. Wilson (Ft. Washington, MD United States) I've not bought a new sewing machine in many years...I had an old Singer that finally gave up the ghost. I went to a sewing machine store recently where they tried to sell me another brand machine that was similar to this one, but with 10 fewer stitch selections...at almost triple the price. Yikes!
The Brother CS6000I is extremely quiet, VERY easy to use, lightweight, and has a great number of stitches available. The only thing I found disconcerting was the self-threading feature, but with just a lil' practice, I was up and running in no time! The best feature? The push-button start/stop thing...there's a foot pedal included, but why bother? This machine is great fun!!
bobbin problem March 4, 2010 Geneva R. Fleming (columbus.ohio) i do not like the way the bobbin fits it keeps popping out and breaking my needles the stitch is good but i have to keep threading the machine and that is a problem i hav had the machine for about 4 weeks and i have used 9 needles which is not very good at all
Great machine, but a bumpy start March 3, 2010 A. Kelly This really is a great machine for the price, but it took a while to figure out why the bobbin wouldn't set properly. Turns out the manual was not clear and I was doing it wrong. Now that I've got it figured out, I have about a 90% success rate with the bobbin. Unfortunately it still gets completely tangled up every so often. I have wound several different bobbins (ALL specifically for this machine) and tried them all but eventually they all tangle. But I'm still happy with the ease of use and amazing variety of stitches.
customer support? March 2, 2010 Suzette Tanguay (Taunton, Ma.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am very frustrated with the local Brother support center after purchasing the 6000I. I brought this new machine which appeared to be malfunctioning, to the warranty service center (1 hour drive away),after having many difficulties with this machine over the last week. I have had continuous problems with this machine displaying E6 error along with a banging noise, broken needles, stitches missed and machine completely seizing up. I was told that I was "threading the machine wrong" without any assessment or allowing me to demonstrate the issue that I was experiencing. I had read the manual many times after the continuous malfunctions and could not troubleshoot the problem myself. The manual instructed me to bring it to a local service center.I asked the Brother repair center to show me the "error of my ways" so that I could determine the problem. I was rudely told that they were not paid to assist me as I bought the machine from Amazon. When I asked this Brother center where I could go to get assistance,I was told they did not know! I am bewildered!
Buyer beware!
